Buckingham Snooker & Billiards Club History
Buckingham Snooker Club is actually a very old Snooker Club, it was established in 1887, and to start with had just one Snooker Table!
It was first located in what is now Browns Hair dressers (the White House) on the main High Street!
Later it was moved to the Town Hall, where the number of tables increased to 2! In 1988 there were 120 members of the Snooker & Billiards Club.
The Club finally moved to Yonder Slade in 1989, as part of a Lottery Funded scheme, they merged with the Bowls club. The club also purchased another two Billiard Tables so it now has 4 (four) full size tables.
Unfortunately Snooker has seen a bit of decline in recent years and membership has fallen to around 50 as at 2005/06 season.
Last season 2006/07, the membership increased to 69, this was mainly due to the entry of one team into the Milton Keynes City Snooker League, and the promotion of the club by the committee.
For the 2007/08 season the club has managed to enter two teams, (one in the 1st Division and one in the second div).
Hopefully through promotion of this club, via this Website & word of mouth, we can increase the membership back upto the levels seen in the lates 1980's.
