What is "bowls"?  

Bowls has the unfortunate conception as an "old persons game". Yes, those that play are older rather than younger at the average club. This is not true at international or county level, where players range over all ages and both genders. It is not difficult to play at an elementary level when those that are more skilled can also get tremendous satisfaction. Like any good game, there is a large amount of luck. I was an opening bat in cricket for many years. As long as I used the skill to get the bat along the right line, of course I got lots of runs off the edge. In bowls, as long as you use your skill to enter the head in the right way, there is a lot of luck as to what happens then. If a bowler tells you otherwise do not believe him (or her). As a game we are blessed with high levels of courtesy and above all it is great FUN.

Slade Indoor Bowls Club

The Club is situated in the Buckingham industrial estate just next to the household tip. The pioneers who started the Club persuaded the Council to allow a redundant large shed, previously used for refuse vehicles, to be converted to a bowls and snooker club, with whom we share the premises. There are 4 indoor flat rinks of high quality with changing rooms and a social area including a fully stocked bar.




Weekly Winter Programme



Every morning. Between 10.00 -12.00 those that come arrange games amongst themselves. Coffee is served halfway.
Monday 4.00-6.00. Ladies Triples League.
Monday 6.30-10.30. Mens Rinks League.
Tuesday  6.30-8.30. Casual bowling.

Wednesday 2.30-6.30. Mens Triples League.
Wednesday 6.30-8.30. Ladies Rinks League.
Thursday 6.30-8.30. Mixed Rinks League.
Friday 6.30-8.30. Mens Triples League

Matches are played at the weekends and some weekday afternoons. Saturday morning is used for coaching and special matches. An inter-club competition for local outdoor clubs runs each Sunday morning on a knock-out basis throughout the season.
